School Chaplain

Hi, I’m ‘Miss Louisa’ the new school chaplain.
I am around the school on Mondays and Thursdays. I am based in the chaplain's office also known as the B.O.O.M Box, located just behind the assembly area. If you see me, please come and say hello.

I learnt the beautiful meaning behind the B.O.O.M box name. B.O.O.M describes a place of Belonging & Openness, an Oasis (safe place) that Motivates social & emotional well-being for our students. This name is a good reminder of ways we can boost student wellbeing, by fostering that sense of belonging and community for our students. A sense of belonging is vital especially for younger developing minds. Belonging, to a culture, a team, a group, a community, and of course a family, all help to boost one's sense of self identity and positive social connection with others. Offering a space at school for students to come, relax and feel free to be themselves is just one way we can encourage student wellbeing.

Outside of school, a few other ways to boost a sense of belonging can be to partake in group hobbies, team sports or family and cultural activities. These are some ways to connect with your community and connect with like minded people outside your community.
Please feel free to contact me through the school office: halidon.ps@education.wa.edu.au
