EARLY CHILDHOOD
“Play is the highest form of research” – Albert Einstein
Our Early Childhood team are dedicated to enhance learning through a play based and inquiry focused approach. Learning is developmentally appropriate, and each child is celebrated for their culture, diversity and individual strengths and capabilities.
At Halidon, students are encouraged to imagine, question, create, discover, and expand their thinking to become confident learners with a strong sense of identity. We plan a balanced, evidence-based approach of intentional, guided and child centred play to ensure our students have opportunities to grow intellectually, socially and emotionally.
We utilise both our indoor and outdoor areas. Our unique outdoor classroom is designed to engage, build important learning dispositions, and foster a natural curiosity of the world around them. We have intentionally designed indoor and outdoor programs which offer our students the space they need to move, play and explore.
“When children pretend, they’re using their imaginations to move beyond the bounds of reality. A stick can be a magic wand. A sock can be a puppet. A small child can be a superhero.” - Fred Rogers
