Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Halidon Primary School began implementing PBS in 2018 with the purpose of establishing, a safe, supportive and positive learning environment.

Our behaviour expectations are known as GRROW values.

  1. Gratitude

  2. Respect

  3. Resilience

  4. Ownership

  5. Willingness

PBS places a focus on prevention, and the following key elements help to create a safe, positive and productive learning environment:
We explicitly teach our expectations to provide students with the skills and understandings to reinforce the high standards of the expectations.
The expectations for all students are clear throughout the school.

By detailing expected behaviours and teaching these to students in a positive way, we provide a common language for everyone at Halidon Primary School. We acknowledge students for consistently displaying positive behaviours in the classroom and on the playground, through the distribution of ‘GRROW’ tokens, Merit Certificates and verbal praise.

We respond to unproductive behaviour through conferencing, reflection sheets (accompanied by reflection time/ time-out) and restorative conversations.
